Survey for Masters Thesis
Please contact Maureen Kreig at rkreig@comcast.net to participate. Maureen is a parent of an 11-year-old with Down syndrome and needs your input in designing a guidebook for new parents of children with DS. Your input is needed! The survey can be completed via email and will take less than five minutes.

Online Survey of Technology Use by People with Developmental Disabilities 
The Beach Center on Disability in Kansas has developed an
online survey to find out how people with developmental disabilities use technology, including computers, cell phones, and other information technology. The survey also asks direct support professionals about the training they currently receive or may need to support technology use. The survey is funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research and the American Association on Mental Retardation is a partner on this initiative. The National Children's Study
is looking at what risks kids are exposed to in their environment from the moment they're conceived through early adulthood.  Their goal is to help pinpoint the root causes of many of today's childhood and adult diseases and disorders.  This will be the longest, largest study of children's health and development ever conducted in the United States.  For more information, go to

Aricept Trial at Duke University Medical Center showed the drug Aricept might boost expressive language skills of children with Down syndrome. 

Study Shows Postnatal Care for Mothers of Children with Down Syndrome is Negative.

Can children with mental retardation learn to read?  What's the optimal way to teach reading to this special population?
